Feeding Rotational Moulding Equipment

STB Engineering are designers and manufacturers of pneumatic conveying and bulk materials handling systems and are the major supplier of materials handling equipment to the Plastics industries including the Rotational Moulding Industry.

In 2006 STB Engineering Ltd acquired the business: Alan Yorke – manufacturers of Roto Machinery. As a consequence STB can now offer a complete turnkey solution to the Rotational Moulding Industry including specialist materials handling systems for accurately dispensing weighed amounts of materials into the actual mould prior to it entering the oven, as well as the rotational moulding machine.

The materials handling system alleviates the need for manual handling of material laden drums to the oven area for manual tipping into the mould. Utilising the well proven STB Engineering pneumatic conveying systems, materials are automatically conveyed from storage Silos, FIBC stations, pulverising system etc, to a receiving hopper which is mounted on weighing equipment and located adjacent to the oven moulding process. The load cell mounted weigh hoppers then providing an accurate ‘Loss-in-Weight’ feed system into the mould via a special designed swivel screw assembly.

Located adjacent to the moulding station will be an operator interface panel. From this panel the operator can select the mould charge by weight or by selecting a recipe from any number of options that are stored in the control system.

The well tried and tested STB conveying and dispensing systems enable materials to be handled safely and successfully in bulk, thereby reducing operator error, removing manual labour and minimising oven cycle times.
